Having worked in events for many years I was looking forward to planning a friend’s hen party, however when I started researching ideas on the internet, I noticed that there are hardly any events for groups that don’t involve drinking copious amounts of booze! The evening activities were easy to plan, but looking for things to do for groups of girls during the day was much more difficult. The bride to be loves food and is obsessed with foodie programmes like Saturday Kitchen and Master Chef, she also claims to be a budding chef – so I wanted to find something that would we could do as a group – but also with a fun, competitive element.
This was difficult to find! And when I spoke to my husband, he said he’d had similar problems when looking for unusual stag do activities that didn’t revolve around getting drunk.
So this got me thinking! Combined with a lack of unusual group activities out there and my own passion for food I started to think that there was a gap in the market. I also thought about the thousands of people who watch food related reality TV shows and sit there thinking that they’d love to see how they’d compare to people on the telly.
With the popularity of cooking and the rise of the celebrity chef, I thought that there really should be more cooking events for corporate networking, staff parties and birthdays – but not simply cooking classes…
Essentially this is how Master Cook came about – unusual cooking events for hen and stag dos, parties and corporate events! Rather just a passive cooking demonstration – we designed Master Cook to have an engaging, competitive element that would attract budding chefs and food lovers of all ages and abilities.
